Snack

Shall I share with you my rehearsal snack pack? Ok, here ya go:
Contents: apple, peanut butter, mandarin oranges, triscuits, cheddar cheese, and two fortune cookies. This container is by systema and it makes me so happy! But I've thrown it about a few too many times so it's barely holding together. I shared a few apple slices and crackers, but for the most part, I ate it all up!

Hat c/o birdeli

This pin led me to a lovely hat pattern by birdeli. It was SO fast and easy to make. I got the yarn in a big bag of yarn cast offs from Michaels. There was like, 5 balls of yarn in there for $4 - for the whole bag! But they didn't have their yarn labels so I don't know exactly what kind of yarn it is. No matter, it's a lovely pattern and turned out to be a lovely skull cap. I'll try looking for more of the yarn because seriously, it took me about half an hour to make and my sister has already requested one in red.

New Fence

Check out this new fence in my parent's back yard! It looks so nice and clean, and they'll get a lot more sun back there. My mom says she'll be planting lots of strawberry plants soon - I can't wait!

Sliders

I made a wee burger:

With all the fixins:

Sliders always come in 3s in the restaurants, so I made a couple more.

Mmm, fake food!

Vancouver Art Gallery

Last weekend I took Friday off and we went to the Vancouver Art Gallery for our weekend excursion. I haven't been there in ages so it was a great little outing. It's right in the heart of downtown, so we had a nice brunch at Rosie's on Robson and I popped into the library to pick up a book I had on hold.
The reason we went on Friday is because they have an event series called Out For Lunch. That day was Gene Ramsbottom on clarinet and Richard Epp on piano playing pieces by Carl Vollrath - two of them were world premieres!
The room is an old part of the building that used to be the court rooms. Gorgeous!
Here is CK talking to the clarinetist's wife...
and now talking to the clarinetist himself. He is also the man who organizes the series.
He was having trouble with his recorder so my hubby recorded them on his phone. We emailed them to him afterwards and he was very grateful.
Such gorgeous art deco styles in the gallery.
The main exhibit they have on now is called Grand Hotel.
Look at this model of the Waldorf Astoria in New York:
Each of the windows is a screen picture.
'Twas a very nice way to spend my day off!
